Hypocrisy;- pretending to believe something that you do not really believe, or that is the opposite of what you do or say at another time.
Naturally, as humans, we are the BIGGEST hypocrites that are there. Yes, even those that are Christians. It is very sad when Christians talk but fail to walk their own talks. The reason I thought to write this was due to the infamous smiling Buddha that has been making rounds on Twitter.
A lot of twitter users now believe that sharing of the Buddha brings them wealth or good luck. Some have even come on Twitter to share their success stories that have happen after the sharing of the Buddha. One of the most hypocritical tweets I saw read
I got money after sharing the Buddha, thank you God!
I swear, I have never seen such confusion from one person. I realized that as Christians, we forget that our God is a jealous God, who wants to be praised solely. That is why throughout the Bible, there aree teachings of false gods and how He hated them.
However, in the case of the Buddha, a lot of the so-called “Christians” continue to share the image, hoping for great returns instead of asking God, who they follow. They share the Buddha on weekdays, and go to church on Sunday to praise God. Do you see how hypocritical that is?
Then I realized, Christians mostly have the following two traits that makes them believe they believe in God while totally acting the opposite way:
- Christians like to teach the Gospel to others, but following their own teachings always seems to be problematic.
- Christians will be quick to point out the sin that others are doing while putting a blind eye to themselves. We forget that one finger points the culprit while the other 4 point back at us.
While writing this I wondered, and would like to hear answers from all of you:
Are we Christians that are sinning? Or are we sinners pretending to be Christians?
Have an amazing Sunday, remember “Winter is finally here!”
