5 Bloggers from Malawi

Bloggers in Malawi are hard to find. This is misty due to most people not taking it serious and the reading and writing culture being very low. However, I have a number of bloggers that have attributed my fire for writing. Some of the people I will mention are people I don’t know in real life, but stumbling on their blogs motivated me for my own.

Without any further wait, ladies and gentlemen, drum roll please…… Here are 5 bloggers from Malawi I wanted to shine a light on

1. Diane Nkhoma

I do not think she knows how much of a motivation she has been to me and my blogging lives. She is the first blogger I knew who took blogging serious and as a business. During the time I have known her, she has shown support to a lot of Malawian content creators. She is one person who I know works hard in seeing creatives prosper. And for that, I respect her.

Not only is she creative as a blogger, but she has shown so many admirable strengths through her podcast, vlogs and photography.

2. Angasa Salome Maliro

I met Angasa through Diane when she would do content creators meeting. Her openness and later that night went to check out her blog. I fell in love with her writing instantly. She has a way with words that is beautiful. Plus, I further liked how she owned who she was through her words.

She recently released a novel titled Tender Underneath and a review of the book can be read here.

3. Nthanda L. Manduwi

She is probably one of the biggest bloggers in the country currently. Her blog is motivating and one of the best lifestyle blogs I’ve seen in the country. I stumbled on it through twitter and have frequented it as it offers a learning moment for me. I think I learned more about commercializing of my blog from some of the deals she was doing.

4. Austin Madinga

I never interacted with Austin until this year. But I found his blog somewhere mid 2019. What I like about it is how he effortlessly promotes the Malawi’s tourism industry. Each of hid adventure blog posts are so well detailed that you slowly imagine the scenery and feel lime you were on the journey with him. Effortless.

5. Caroline Luka

This is my go to when I need my spirits lifted and get life inspiration. Sprinkle in some good poetry to the mix and it is heaven for me. She documents her life journey so well. Without knowing, she is growing into a self-development and motivational blogger. Plus her poetry, a mixture of romance and dark poetry which is totally AH-mazing.

These are some of the digital voices that are worth highlighting when it comes to bloggers in Malawi. I hope you will check out their sites and enjoy the Malawian tails.

  1. Well done for choosing to be one of the few bloggers in Malawi. It is obviously not easy.

It’s great and pretty cool that you decided to write about the few bloggers that you know of. Acknowledging their efforts and how they have influenced you is amazing.

I agree with the remarks you have made about Malawians not taking blogging seriously, and the reading as well as writing culture being low. However, the other issue that comes into play is also the quality of writing by some Malawian bloggers. The quality is quite poor in terms of the writing style, use of language and typos that can easily be fixed if proofreading is done adequately.

People that enjoy reading, and are also most likely your target audience, tend to be critical of what they read. So it can be putting off to find a blog with an interesting title, and possibly idea, but written in a substandard way. The readers are then obviously not too keen on sharing the blog posts with others.

The point is, the blogging scene in Malawi can be taken seriously and become an enjoyable experience if writers also worked on their writing skills( which would hopefully encourage others to write too). This would also hopefully promote the culture of reading blogs and even widen bloggers readership in Malawi!

    Happy writing!

  2. Hello! Do you know if they make any plugins to help with
Search Engine Optimization? I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some
targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good success. If you know of any please share.
    Thanks!
