Hydration is one of the most important things to keep healthy. With the body comprising of 60% of water, it is important that we always drink it.
I dislike water; actually, up until some 3 months ago, I would go days without drinking water. However, I mostly complain about migraines and my skin peels a lot, which has forced me to drink at least 4 litres of water per day. But, during this time, I started researching on alternative ways of consuming water, without drinking it. Hence, I stumbled on the following fruits and vegetables that increase water levels in the body:
- Cucumbers and Lettuce
They contain a whopping 96% of water. They have the highest content of water than any fruit or vegetable that you can possibly consume.
- Tomatoes and Cabbage
While a lot of my fellow Malawians and/or Africans like to use tomatoes when making relish, eating raw ones is also very important. Both tomatoes and cabbage contain about 95% of water in them, making it very beneficial to eat them. So Africans, let’s start making cabbage at home rather than at weddings and funerals only.
- Cauliflower and Broccoli
These are my favorite to eat, they too also contain 93% of water. Shocking, I know!
We know that their name comes from the fact that they have high water content, about 92% of water actually. No lie, they taste like flavored water most of the times. And while most people find them to be useless fruits, they can do wonders to your body.
These beauties also contain 92% of water, so gentlemen; continue feeding your women these while also being romantic.
- Pineapples, Peaches and Oranges
All these fruits contain at 87% of water. You are also assured of getting different vitamins for eating these fruits.
- Apples, Grapes and Pears
These have a 84% of water content, deliciously so even.
My Water Therapy
With 4 litres a day, I divided them in this way:
- 1l after each meal
- 500ml at 10am, and another 500ml at 3pm
How I eat the fruits
You can either eat them raw, or make fruit salads. My favorite salad comprises of:
- Baby tomatoes
- Spring onions (for taste)
- Lettuce or spinach
- Boiled cauliflower or broccoli
- Apples, sliced
- Salt and black pepper for taste
- And finally, lemon juice
Taking a lot of water will do wonders to your skin and organs, while also making sure to eliminate issues like headaches without the need to take any pills. My skin has cleared out,
something I love so much.
